Its hard to believe that another Thanksgiving Basket Giveaway is in the books, but helping out families in need never gets old. Last Wednesday, members of the HOT 107-9 staff delivered Thanksgiving Baskets to three separate families in Acadiana that were nominated by either friends or family.

We started our journey by picking up the baskets from Heleaux's Grocery in Lafayette and then we hit the road. The first stop was in Lafayette as we delivered a basket to a family going through difficult times. Not only did this family loose a child in a terrible automobile accident, they also lost their home thereafter because the father of this family is now disabled.

After leaving Lafayette, we then went to Breaux Bridge and delivered a basket to a single mother of four that has THREE full-time jobs. We wanted this mom to know that her hard work and commitment to her kids has not gone under the radar. She said that she had not shopped yet for Thanksgiving dinner because she was too busy working and that a Thanksgiving dinner was in limbo.

Lastly, we then headed west on I-10 and made a stop at a Women & Children's Shelter in Crowley. Like many places, this shelter is facing budget cuts and they did not think that they would be able to provide a Thanksgiving dinner to it's residents due to the cuts. When we heard of this situation it was a "no-brainer." We should note, Paul from Heleaux's Grocery heard of this situation and he gave us TWO BASKETS to deliver to this shelter.

I want to personally thank all of you who sent us e-mails nominating those in need. We would have loved to given ever nominee a basket. Lastly, we could not have done this without the fine folks over at Heleaux's. Paul and his staff have been on board with this giveaway for the last three years and their generosity to Acadiana is something special!! Again, thanks Acadiana for helping us do a small part to make someone happy during this holiday season.
