While 2016 is already shaping up to be a year packed with beef, there is one hip-hop feud that is seemingly reignited each time the wind blows. Iggy Azalea and Azealia Banks' disdain for one another can be traced all the way back to 2012 (or earlier), with recent flair ups coming at the tail end of 2014. The bulk of the criticism leveled against Iggy centers around her supposed appropriation of black culture and in turn, her lack of activism toward black causes. In fact, as recently as this January, Iggy and Talib Kweli exchanged a series of tweets in reference to the Aussie rapper's response to Macklemore's "White Privilege II."

But now, Iggy and Azealia are at it once again in the public sphere. In a new cover story with Elle Canada, Iggy says her 2015 was mostly forgettable, and that her beef with Banks set the precedent.

"If I could, I would Men in Black memory-erase 2015, I totally would... I think the Azealia Banks thing is what really started it all," she said. "We don’t like each other on a personal level, and that has gone on for many years — before the Black Lives Matter incident happened. So when I dismissed her, people started to think that I dismissed the whole movement, but I wasn’t trying to dismiss Black Lives Matter — I was trying to dismiss her because it's our personal shit. I don't think the subject matter of her tweet was invalid; I just think it was emotionally charged and driven by something else, and the whole thing got so misconstrued. I just wish I had acknowledged the issue head-on because it made people think I don’t care about what’s going on socially and what’s happening in America, and I do care. Even though I still hate Azealia Banks, I wish I had said it in a way that didn't make people think I was oblivious to the movement."

From there, comes the above new track from Azealia Banks, "Used to Being Alone," which doesn't reference Iggy by name, but potentially alludes to her with a refrain of "How does it feel to treat me the way you do?" It also seems to sample Tony Igy's "Astronomia," the same sample featured in Iggy's "My World."
