Ignatious Carmouche is the latest Acadiana resident to represent Cajun Country on national TV.

Last night, Carmouche kicked off Season 13 of NBC's The Voice by making through the first round of blind auditions with an amazing performance of Disclosure's "Latch." It was good enough to get both Jennifer Hudson and Blake Shelton to turn around, but in the end, Carmouche ended up going with Team Jennifer.

Carmouche's path to the big stage didn't follow a traditional route as he was "The Voice on Snapchat" winner of Season 12. In the past, most contestants on The Voice lined up for their shot at the nearest audition, but Ignatious secured his spot on the show by uploading a video of himself singing "Pretty Wings" by Maxwell. Out of 20,000 submissions, Carmouche won with Team Adam.

As the winner, he got his shot at a blind audition in Season 13 and last night he secured his spot on Team Jennifer.

Interestingly enough, Carmouche's musical background is anything but bright lights and big stages. As a matter of fact growing up in a very religious household gave Ignatious his start singing in the church. He was so shy as a kid he would sing with his back to the congregation, but as he grew, so did his confidence.

We're supporting Ignatious and wish him the best of luck as he represents Acadiana on The Voice!
