The inclement weather has started causing school closures here in Acadiana.

According to our news partners at KATC, Schools of the Sacred Heart in Ville Platte and Grand Coteau announce they will be closed today as much of the state of Louisiana is under an enhanced severe weather threat today and the entire state is under a high wind advisory from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Wind gusts are expected to get as high as 20-40 miles per hour with tornadic activity a legitimate possibility.

Because part of their campus is housed in modular buildings and because some students have significant commute times, Sacred Heart officials want to exercise safety in this potentially harmful situation.
