IRS Parodies ‘The Apprentice’ In $10,000 Training Video

The IRS released a training video parodying Donald Trump’s “The Apprentice” that cost $10,000 to create, according to a statement released by U.S. Rep. Charles Boustany, R-Lafayette. The four-minute, low-quality video was made to be shown at the IRS Small Business/Self-Employed Division Conference.

Boustany, who serves as the House Oversight Subcommittee Chairman, released this statement:

Another day, another example of abuse and waste at the IRS. Months ago, I demanded the IRS come clean about the time and money it spent to produce these frivolous videos. While we may have no answers, we do have an endless supply of what appears to be the IRS’s idea of entertainment. Whether it is wasteful conferences and videos or the inexcusable targeting of taxpayers based on their personal beliefs, there is nothing amusing about the American people footing the bill for this rogue and out of control agency.”

The video’s release comes after a tough year for the IRS, whose spending has already come under scrutiny from Boustany after it created lavish training videos with “Gilligan’s Island” and “Star Trek” themes.

The Trump parody was released to the House Ways and Means Committee, which has been investigating the IRS this year for its wasteful spending practices and its targeting of political groups.
