Jay Z is the founder of Roc Nation Sports, a management agency, a former minority owner of the Brooklyn Nets and has earned at least $42 million this year thanks in part to his business endeavors, according to Forbes. With this much success, it's easy to forget just how far he's come from hustling in Brooklyn, N.Y.'s Bed-Stuy section. A new documentary provides an in-depth look at the rapper's journey to achieving stardom and business success.

Fans got a sneak peek at the documentary -- entitled 'A Genius Leaves the Hood: The Unauthorized Story of Jay Z' -- through a recently released trailer. The Moguldum Films-produced project will detail the rapper's career arc with commentary from New York DJ Mister Cee, Jaz-O (Jay Z's mentor who was at odds with him at one point), Bobbito Garcia (who hosted the legendary Jay Z/Big L seven-minute freestyle) and a few others associated with Hov.

The doc is apparently coming out this month -- the trailer states 'A Genius Leaves the Hood' will arrive in "Winter 2013."
