What's beef? While 2016 has already seen its fair share of rapper-related feuds, there's one cold war that can officially be scratched from the list. Jay Z and Robert De Niro were seen acting mighty friendly with one another at the 2016 amfAR gala in New York. The two titans of New York had previously made headlines in 2012, when De Niro called out Hov in person at a Leonardo DiCaprio birthday party for allegedly failing to return his phone calls, the New York Post's Page Six had reported.

Reports from that 2012 party say that De Niro called Jay "disrespectful" for curving the actor, who was trying to collaborate on a song for the Tribeca Film Festival. A source overhearing the initial conversation said, "He told Jay that if somebody calls you six times, you call them back. It doesn’t matter who you are, that is just rude.” Another source had added, "It was the talk of the party. Everyone was saying there’s only one star in New York bigger and badder than Jay-Z, and that’s Robert De Niro. He can be quite scary when he’s angry.” Another source gave a conflicting report, saying, "It was a low-key private conversation between two people that was apparently overheard. It was not a heated discussion.”

Regardless of what was said or the tone used in that first conversation, all seems to be well between houses Carter and De Niro. As for that song, Jay may have to direct De Niro to one of his many Roc Nation or Tidal affiliated artists.
