The voice of the LSU Tigers, Jim Hawthorne, signed off from Omaha, NE last night for the final time. The broadcast veteran is retiring after 32 seasons calling LSU baseball games.

This will not be the last time you hear Hawthorne's voice on the LSU Sports Radio Network. The broadcast legend will call LSU Football and Basketball games in 2015-16. However, this was his last game calling LSU Baseball.

The Tigers were eliminated from the College World Series Thursday night by TCU.

Having never met Jim Hawthorne, which I hope to do so before he retires, I've asked those that know him what type person he is and I get the same answer all the time---He's one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet.

Jay Walker, the voice of the UL Ragin Cajuns, once told me that Jim Hawthorne is the ultimate professional in and out of the booth. We will miss hearing him call games for LSU, but luckily we have a few more seasons to hear his call.
