After a year in the headlines, Kanye West and Kim Kardashian have been named one of the year's most fascinating people by veteran journalist Barbara Walters.

ABC News shares that the celebrity couple -- who welcomed a baby girl, North West, got engaged and starred in the 'Bound 2' video in 2013 -- joins a list of the "Most Fascinating People of the Year," which also includes Miley Cyrus (of course) and actress Jennifer Lawrence.

West's relationship with the press is no doubt one of the reasons he's on the list. In a recent interview with V103, the rapper explained why he ended his relationship with Nike and moved on over to adidas, likening it to Game's relationship with 50 Cent.

"I do always want to give Nike they credit and respect for allowing me to co-brand the Yeezy with the Nike. I don't want to go rogue," Kanye states. "Say 50 [Cent] signs Game and gives him the opportunity to do a demo -- just one song or something. He does that one song, and everybody likes that song better than anything 50 has done over the past 10 years since 50 made the Jordans."

Adidas has now confirmed that the company's deal with the 'Yeezus' creator is official through the statement below.

"For 2014, we welcome to the adidas family one of the most influential cultural icons of this generation, Kanye West. Well known for breaking boundaries across music, film and design and partnering with our history in street wear culture and leading innovations in sport, we look forward to creating a new chapter. Details to follow."
