In a unsuspecting marketing tactic, Kanye West premiered his new video for ‘New Slaves’ on 66 buildings worldwide.
On Friday (May 17), the clip was projected onto the side of a building in Brooklyn’s Williamsburg section. The video was also screened in major cities like Chicago, Los Angeles, Miami and San Francisco. Outside of the U.S., foreign cities like Berlin (Germany), Sydney (Australia) and Paris (France) had video premieres.
The simple black-and-white video features West rapping socially-conscious themes about the excess of fame, corporate greed and the urgency for black unity. It gets real creepy at the end when Yeezy stares into the camera with contempt while someone is singing in a high-pitched falsetto.
What does it all mean?
It’s looks like the G.O.O.D Music leader is back on that ‘Power‘ trip.
We should expect more surprises tonight when Kanye West performs on the season finale of ‘Saturday Night Live,’ which airs at 11:30 p.m. ET on NBC.
