Congratulations to Katy Perry as she was selected to be our halftime entertainment at the upcoming Super Bowl in February.

Several media outlets, including Billboard, say that she beat out Coldplay and Rihanna for the gig. Super Bowl XLIX happens February 1st on NBC.

What's funny about the halftime gig for the Super Bowl is that the NFL wants the performer to pay THEM for performing on their stage. They, the NFL, say that they are giving the performer more exposure than anyone else can, so they want to be compensated for the privilege.

Recently on ESPN's College Game Day, the singer noted that she was in negotiations with the league, but she did not say anything more than that. While on the set she said, "I have let them know that I'm not the kind of girl who would pay to play the Super Bowl."
