Katy Perry sent a sweet video message to a terminally-ill young fan, and the power of Twitter made it happen.

13-year-old Sophie Birtles has an incurable genetic disorder called juvenile Sandhoff disease, and the BBC reports she's receiving care at Rebecca House Children's Hospice in the Isle of Man (located between England and Ireland). Knowing she's a huge Katycat, her father Andrew helped get the hashtag #youreafireworksophie trending on Twitter in order to get word to the "Firework" singer herself. It worked.

After introducing herself (probably unnecessary, but humble nonetheless), a cat-eared Katy told Sophie, "I heard your story and I just wanted to tell you that you are a firework, and you are trending, and I do love you. Everybody loves you. And we're all thinking about you all over the world right now and sending you so much love. I hope you can feel it with this message."

It's not the first time a star has reached out to a fan in need following a supportive Twitter campaign. In June 2015, One Direction filmed a video for a fan who'd lost her leg in an English roller coaster accident, and offered her tickets to see their On the Road Again tour since she was unable to attend Capital FM Summertime Ball after her crash.
