Kendrick Lamar's latest album continues to roll in the awards. His most recent accolade might leave you saying "Damn." On Monday (April 16), it was announced the Compton rapper's Damn. LP won a Pulitzer Prize for music.

For those unfamiliar, the Pulitzer Prize is a very prestigious award mostly given out in the fields of newspaper, magazine, online journalism and literature. There are also music awards given out, but never has a rapper earned a Pulitzer. Kendrick Lamar's Damn. becomes the first non-classical or jazz work to earn the award. Needless to say, this is huge for the culture.

According to The Boston Globe, the Pulitzer board called the album, "a work that captures the complexity of African-American life."

Kendrick's Damn. album dropped last April 14 and has proved to have staying power in people's minds and on the charts. Last week, the album became K. Dot's third LP to sell 1 million copies. For the week ending in March 29, the album sold an additional 4,000 copies, boosting the total sales on the project to 1.002 million.

The TDE rapper's cultural impact is being felt as well. Recently it was announced a book on the rapper's impact on Black America is being written by journalist Marcus J. Moore. Titled The Butterfly Effect: How Kendrick Lamar Ignited the Soul of Black America, the new book is dubbed a "cultural biography."
