Last week, Kendrick Lamar and Schoolboy Q were spotted at a Los Angeles Rams practice facility, running routes and playing catch as Kanye West’s verse from “Clique” played. At first it seemed like the TDE rappers were simply paying a visit to the newest show in town, but after HBO's training camp docu-series Hard Knocks premiered Tuesday night (Aug. 9) there were K. Dot and Q once more, kicking it with Rams players and putting their skills on display.

Surveying the field, Q is a bit dismayed at the level of professional-level talent, saying, "Damn it's like every chance I ever thought I had at making it at football is really shattered coming out here." He and Kendrick scope out the Rams potential for the upcoming season from the sidelines, Kendrick saying, "See what we working with, man," and Q following up with, "See if we can bring a championship to L.A. city."

Considering the Rams’ back-and-forth history with Los Angeles, as a franchise, they remain behind the Oakland Raiders and San Francisco 49ers in terms of hip-hop significance within California, the black and silver garb of the former adopted by N.W.A. and more, the winning ways of the latter resonating with sports fans everywhere. Inviting the TDE boys to training camp is a great way to change that, with Todd Gurley, who is signed to Jay Z’s Roc Nation Sports, serving as a major draw as well.

The Rams begin their preseason on Aug. 13 against the Dallas Cowboys and play Week 1 at the 49ers on Sept. 12. Hard Knocks airs on HBO on Tuesday nights at 10 p.m. EST until the start of the 2016 season.
