Kevin Gates dropped "2 Phones" back in November 2015, and since then, the song has been everywhere. Nearly nine months later, on July 28, the RIAA certified the record's double platinum status.

Congrats are in order for the Baton Rouge, La. rapper. The RIAA website states that Gates has moved two million digital copies of "2 Phones." The 2014 XXL freshman has been working his butt off, slowly but surely rising to the top of the game.

In other Gates-related news, he recently dropped "Know Better," a cut off the Suicide Squad soundtrack. A couple weeks ago, the 30-year-old MC appeared in court for a 2015 incident in which he kicked a female fan at a concert.

Six days ago, Gates took to Instagram to address the killing of 23-year-old Baltimore native Korryn Gaines. He says into the camera, “Oh my god. I love this lady. I’m going to get this lady’s face tattooed on me. Call her crazy, call her what you want to call her. She stood for something. she died for what she believed in. I love you with all my heart. Niggas call you what they want to to call you, I call you queen."

The Islah rapper has expressed his opinion when it comes to Black Lives Matter, saying he thinks Black people killing each other undermines the movement.
