Everyone knew Kevin Hart and his Night School co-star, Tiffany Haddish, were coming with some jokes when they pulled up onstage at the 2018 MTV Video Music Awards on Monday night (Aug. 20). Still, just about everyone was surprised when Hart name-dropped Lil Pump and Lil Xan with a brief, but epic roasting session.

Taking shots at a variety of folks, Hart saved his most savage bit of shade when he pointed out Pump and Xan.

"A lot of people in here tonight," Hart said as the camera panned out to a shot of Lil Pump. "We got Lil Pump, we got Lil Xan, these are also the reasons that your 12-year-old cousin wants a face tattoo. Stop writing on your goddamn face. Stop writing on your face, it's stupid. You're not going to get a job if this shit don't work out, stop it."

While we don't get to see Pump's reaction, we do get to peep Xan, who laughs it off a bit as his newly announced girlfriend, Noah Cyrus, playfully hugs him and laughs at Hart's joke. Looks like Xan was being a good sport.

While getting roasted in front of thousands is never the best experience, it appears everything was light-hearted, at it's hard to imagine anyone was that offended. On the plus side, it's been a positive night for hip-hop overall.

Thus far, Cardi B, Post Malone, 21 Savage and Nicki Minaj are artists who've taken some big W's on the night. For her part, Bardi took home the trophy for Best New Artist. Meanwhile Post Malone's 21 Savage-assisted 2017 single, "Rockstar," won the VMA for Song of the Year. Then, of course, there's Nicki Minaj, whose video for "Chun-Li" won the trophy for Best Hip-Hop.
