You are traveling through another dimension ... a dimension not only of sight and sound but of mind. A journey into a wondrous land in which Kim Kardashian and Kanye West don't want free stuff.

Yes, we have truly entered an episode of the 'Twilight Zone' as parents-to-be Kim and Kanye have reportedly asked friends to donate to charity instead of buying their already over-privileged unborn baby more things it doesn't need.

The benefactors? The kids at the Lurie Children's Hospital in Chicago (West's hometown).

In response, a rep for the hospital released the following statement:

Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago would like to extend its sincerest gratitude to Kim Kardashian and Kanye West for their thoughtfulness and support of the hospital.

Funds donated on behalf of Kardashian and West will be directed to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Fund which will help care for the most critically ill babies and their families.

We wish them all the best in the upcoming arrival of their baby.

Kardashian, as you may recall, took an enormous amount of heat when she and now ex-husband Kris Humphries accepted some $100,000 in gifts before their nuptials. After the marriage fell apart in short order, Kim dodged some poisonous PR by donating twice that amount to charity.

Ups to Kimye for being proactive on this. Hopefully the same wealthy friends who showered Kardashian with pricey wedding presents will now get their checkbooks out again -- for a much better cause.
