In an effort to make Lafayette beautiful, the Lafayette Convention and Visitors Commission and Acadiana Center for the Arts are now paying local artists $500 to paint 10 traffic light boxes around the city.

The first box to get a artistic makeover is done by 26-year-old artist Johnathan Wilson. You can see it on Camellia Boulevard in River Ranch.

The traffic light boxes are wrapped in vinyl that can last up to 20 years.

According to The Acadiana Advocate Wilson said:

“I wanted to see something everyone could enjoy, especially kids, who just stare out the window all the time”

If you want to try your hand at making Lafayette beautiful, the AcA is accepting applications, but only up to March 20th, 2015. You can get to the the application page by CLICKING HERE!

Good Luck. : )
