Lafayette Crash Kills Woman
11/23/12 – Police have now released the identity of the driver as being 22-year-old Rachael Sonnier of Lafayette.

11/22/12 – Police were dispatched to the intersection of Kaliste Saloom Road and Rue Louis XIV last night after reports of a major crash.
Investigators say that a white Buick Lacrosse was turning left from Rue Louis XIV onto Kaliste Saloom Road. Â That was when it collided with a red Ford Mustang that was on Kaliste Saloom going north. Â The driver of the Buick, a 22-year-old Lafayette woman, was pronounced dead at the scene. Â The driver of the other car, 23-year-old Fred Dutton, Jr, was charged with OWI and Failure to Obey a Traffic Signal.
Another passenger in the Buick was taken to a local hospital with moderate injuries.
The identity of the victim is being withheld pending notification of her next of kin. The crash remains under investigation by Lafayette Police.
