LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) — Money is running out for police officers to patrol downtown Lafayette's bar scene and the Simcoe Street club scene.

Lafayette Police Chief Jim Craft told a liaison committee Monday between the police department and City-Parish Council that money for the two special police details is running low.

The Advertiser reports the downtown detail was established in 2005 to work weekends after problems began to increase with the growing popularity of clubs and bars concentrated on Jefferson Street.
