According to a story in the Daily Advertiser, the search for the missing 22-year-old UL Student, Mickey Shunick, is still underway and it now appears that the search has extended beyond the state boundaries of Louisiana. The Lafayette paper says that since the arrest of Brandon Scott Lavergne, more tips are coming in from people who know the man accused of taking Shunick.According to a private investigator, John Abdella, who has been working with police on the case since the beginning, the search for Mickey Shunick is now extending beyond the state lines of Louisiana. If you recall, a truck belonging to Brandon Scott Lavergene was found burnt in Texas.

In the article published by the Daily Advertiser, Abdella says more people that know Lavergne are speaking out. He says, "Some of them had an idea of where Mickey may be, and there were different areas they wanted us to search," Abdella said. "Right now, what's going on, we're conducting different searches in different parishes and even out of state."

At a press conference last week, Lafayette Chief  of Police Jim Craft said that they think Shunick was abducted between St. Mary and St. Landry streets and Blackham Coliseum in Lafayette. That is near the site where surveillance video picked up images of Shunick and the white pickup truck around 2 a.m. May 19.

In an interview with our sister station New Talk 96.5 KPEL, Crpl. Paul Mouton of the Lafayette Police Department said that the search for Mickey Shunick has now "become more of search and recovery mission." Brandon Scott Lavergne of St. Landry Parish has since been charged with aggravated kidnapping and and first degree murder of Mickey Shunick. Again we should stress, as of the latest report, Mickey Shunick has NOT yet been located.
