Lil Uzi Vert Has Plans to Collaborate With Marilyn Manson on Rock Album
Lil Uzi Vert has never hid his love for rock star Marilyn Manson and now, the rapper will get the chance to work with his idol. Manson reveals the two have been in talks to work together on new music.
In an interview with Consequence of Sound, Manson said he's preparing to work with the Luv Is Rage 2 rapper on a new album. "He wants to do a rock album next, and I would love to see that happen because I think that he could make a new thing," he said. "Not some rock/rap type of thing, something special and new that I think needs to be created just to fuck the world up more."
Manson also shared his vision for Lil Uzi's foray into rock, saying the rapper could create music along the lines of Bad Brains or Faith No More. "I think that if I had to pick what Lil Uzi Vert should be, if he’s involved in rock, it’s an early Bad Brains or Faith No More, but with a catchier element," he said. "I think he has punk rock in him. He’s a lil crazy motherfucker. And good. Smart as fuck. He has an attitude like I did, and I like that about him."
In a separate interview with Zane Lowe for Beats 1, Manson spoke about his first time meeting Lil Uzi, which also happened to involve a meeting with Rick Ross. "So, I’m at this hotel and I’m having dinner with Rick Ross, who said his dream is to work with me," he said. "He ghosted me a bit. But the same night, I hung out with Lil Uzi after we had talked. And we talked a lot. He ghosted me also. I don’t know if by the time this airs, he will have still ghosted me."
The rocker also praised Lil Uzi's music, revealing he was a fan of Luv Is Rage 2, which he thought was better than the rapper's first album. "I like his new record way better than the first one," he said. "The first one, I saw potential in him because he had this attitude that reminded me of me when I was his age. I don't want to sound aged by saying that, it just sounded like what needed to happen. But it wasn't fully formed."
In April, Lil Uzi Vert debuted a Marilyn Manson-inspired chain designed by Ben Baller. The $220,000 chain features Manson sporting Mickey Mouse ears, the same look he had on a 2015 cover for Paper magazine. The rapper has also said Manson was the one who inspired him to get grills.
Last month, the Philly rapper revealed his plans to craft a rock album and start a rock band. Uzi initially said that he and Manson didn't speak about creating music, but the rocker just lifted the curtain on that news.
