Lil Wayne’s manager, Cortez Bryant, has come forward to squash the rumors that Weezy may have signed with Jay Z’s Roc Nation imprint.

It all started with an Instagram video showing Weezy at KMEL’s Summer Jam concert on Saturday (June 13) making an announcement about signing a deal with Hov. This prompted speculation that Wayne signed a deal with Roc Nation despite his legal battle with Cash Money Records.

Not true says Bryant. The music executive told Billboard that Wayne’s deal is related to his partnership with TIDAL, Jay Z’s struggling music streaming service.

"The Internet and blogs took his words out of context," he said. "When Wayne was speaking about the partnership with Jay Z, he was speaking about his new deal as an artist owner with Tidal."

This would explain the TIDAL-exclusive release of Lil Wayne’s new single, “Glory.” The song is set to appear on his Free Weezy Album, which has no release date yet.
