LL Cool J Makes Fun of Kanye West, Performs ‘I Need Love’ on ‘Arsenio’ [VIDEO]

As Jimmy Fallon makes some noise in late-night programming wtih the ‘Tonight Show,’ Arsenio Hall is still keeping steady, hosting the revival of his talk show. One of his latest guests is hip-hop legend LL Cool J, who took a comedic jab at Kanye West during his appearance on ‘The Arsenio Hall Show’ Monday night (Feb. 24).

The rapper revealed that he recently collaborated with Kid Ink, Tyga and Chris Brown on the remix to ‘Main Chick.’ The Queens, N.Y., great talked about some other great artists in the game when he also put West into the conversation with a backhanded compliment.

“Kanye West, when he’s not complaining,” LL Cool J jokes. “I love you man, but stop complaining, b.” Although West has been taking a break from voicing his displeasure in radio interviews, he’s continued his tradition of giving theatrical rants during his Yeezus tour, which ended its American leg on Sunday.

The jokes continue. LL laughs as he says, “Don’t hit me,” perhaps referencing West’s physical altercation with a teenager in January. Arsenio then threw even more shade: “God, please don’t run into another sign.”

LL didn’t have much of a reason to be serious about his shots, but Arsenio took offense to one of West’s statements last year. ‘Ye was comparing himself to a ’90s version of the talk show in an interview with Power 105.1’s ‘The Breakfast Club’ when he said, “They’re gonna say, ‘Oh, he’s like Arsenio Hall, and he was turning up too much and now you fired.’ But when you got money, can’t nobody fire you.”

Arsenio fired back in December 2013, to say he didn’t get fired, but left the talk show circuit. He then further criticized West and his use of the word “slave”: “Do you know what that word is? Do you know what that word is all about?… If you in the music business you shouldn’t f— with that word. Too serious an era. Do you know what [that word] meant to slaves?”

LL Cool J’s stay at ‘Arsenio’ wasn’t all shots, however. The rhymer talked about the making of his 1987 classic song ‘I Need Love.’ “I just wanted to feel good,” he says. “If it feels good, we good.” He goes on to perform the song accompanied with the audience’s claps and a keyboard.
