We all know that there's talent, then there's Louisiana talent. Our state will be well-represented at this year's Grammy Awards.

It goes without saying that we have some of the most talented people in the country right here in our great state. Lt. Gov. Billy Nungesser says, "Louisiana always leads with more Grammy nominees per capita compared to anywhere.”

He also claims that the word "Grammy" originated in our state. "The word Grammy was actually named by a lady from Metarie, Louisiana, and she won a contest--a national contest--many many years ago,” said Nungesser.

This year you'll be seeing a lot of Louisiana on music's biggest night as 12 Louisiana nominees have snagged 19 Grammy nominations. Up for the awards are two absolutely amazing musicians from Shreveport. First, we have jazz musician Brian Blade, who is one of the most talented and kind human beings you could ever meet.

Next up, a great friend of mine who I have always said is the most talented person I've ever known, Dominique Jones--or DOE--an Evangel graduate and a phenomenal gospel singer.

We know those two, as well as the other ten from our state, will do a wonderful job representing us as the 61st Grammy Awards this Sunday on CBS.
