Louisiana's Attorney General Jeff Landry tells KPEL that his office will file a motion by Friday of this week to intervene and supersede 15th Judicial District Attorney Keith Stutes' suit of multiple oil and gas companies on behalf of Vermilion Parish.

The suit alleges that the industry damaged the environment in the area, and their work also contributed to flooding issues in the parish.

The Vermilion Parish Police Jury voted 13 to 0 for a resolution last night that asks for DA Keith Stutes to drop the suit.

The man assigned to handle the suit, Richard Broussard, was a guest on Acadiana"s Morning News last week and says Vermilion Parish should not be left out of any settlement that is made.

The state is considering making a deal with the companies that would cover multiple areas.
