NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Louisiana investigators are combing through evidence in the shooting death earlier this week of a 6-year-old autistic boy after authorities charged two law enforcement officers in the shooting.

Louisiana's state police chief, Col. Mike Edmonson, says two marshals were booked late Friday on charges of second degree murder and attempted second degree murder.

Authorities are looking through 911 calls, forensics evidence, witness statements and body camera footage.

The boy, Jeremy Mardis, was shot and killed and his father wounded during the Tuesday night shooting in the central Louisiana town of Marksville. The two were in their vehicle when authorities allegedly opened fire.

Earlier, officials said the marshals were chasing the father to serve him a warrant but Edmonson did not indicate what triggered the incident.
