Attention current residents of Louisiana: Whether you like it or not, there is a petition on the books right now that could lead to Louisiana separating itself from the United States of America. The petition to secede from the union was started on November 7, 2012 (the day after election day) by Michael E. from Slidell, LA and has garnered well beyond the 25,000 signatures required for a response from the White House. At last count, the signatures had eclipsed the 30,000 mark – but the only problem is, a lot of people think that Louisiana is trying to “succeed” from the union. Sigh.
