The 2015-2016 college basketball season officially came to an end for LSU on Sunday, when the Tigers declined an invitation to play in the NIT, after being left out of the NCAA Tournament field.

LSU lost in the semifinals of the SEC Tournament on Saturday, falling to the Texas A&M Aggies, 71-38, to drop to 19-14 on the season.

The decision not to play in the NIT endss the college career of freshman standout Ben Simmons, who is expected to be the top overall pick this summer in the NBA draft. Simmons finished the year averaging 34.9 points, 19.2 rebounds, 1.8 blocks, and 4.8 assists-per-game.

Kentucky, Texas A&M and Vanderbilt are the three SEC schools that will be playing in the NCAA Tournament, while Alabama, Florida, Georgia and South Carolina accepted NIT bids.
