As Hurricane Matthew grew stronger on its path to the Florida East Coast, the University of Florida stated on Wednesday their Saturday matchup with LSU "would not be moved from Gainesville", and would remain on schedule.

Twenty-four hours later, both Universities announced the game is postponed, with no make-up date rescheduled.

The SEC office, along with LSU and Florida have stated a plan to work to reschedule the game later this season if possible.

However, neither school shares the same open date.

According to an LSU press release, the schools will attempt "to find a scheduling solution with the possible movement of other games on the schools’ schedules".

Ross Dellenger of The Advocate is reporting the game is canceled, but both schools, along with the SEC office continue to report "postponed".

LSU attempted to help the situation in a variety of ways, all of which were rejected by Florida.
