LSU's La'el Collins is preparing to be selected in the first round of the NFL Draft, but he will have to answer questions regarding a murder investigation he is not a suspect in.

Baton Rouge's WAFB reported that investigators in the death of 29-year old Brittney Mills would like to speak to Collins, who Cpl. Don Coppola of the Baton Rouge Police Department emphasized was indeed not a suspect. Collins knew Mills and simply may have some answers that could help the investigation.

"They did have some kind of relationship," Coppola told WAFB. "Detectives just want to learn more about what he might know."

Mills was shot last Friday, slightly after 10:30, in her home on Ship Drive. She was eight months pregnant. The baby is alive but under medical care. The father of the child has not yet been identified.

Collins is currently in Chicago, preparing for the NFL Draft. Cpl. Coppola said investigators are in contact with his agent, but Collins has not made any official comments on the matter.

If you or anyone you know might have information to aid the investigation, call Crime Stoppers at (225) 344-STOP (7867).
