Mac Miller’s “Donald Trump” Reenters Top 30 Songs on iTunes

Most artists would love for one of their old songs to pop back up on iTunes' top 30 songs, but it's doubtful Mac Miller is feeling that way. The Pittsburgh rapper's 2011 single "Donald Trump" is back in the top 30, as DJBooth discovered earlier today (Nov. 9).

Trump's presidential victory gave the song a significant boost. While Miller was previously chummy with Trump, things between the two became antagonistic in the following years. Back in March, Miller delivered a biting speech about Trump during an appearance on The Nightly Show With Larry Wilmore.

"You see, you’re lowering the bar for our nation’s intelligence,” Miller said of Trump. “Your only goal is to stay in the spotlight no matter how much it fuels the fire of hate groups that you apparently know nothing about like the KKK and neo-Nazis. You have people at your rallies who openly assault black teenage girls because hey, that’s American. The messed up thing is, I don’t really know if you’re evil. I think you’re just such an egomaniacal attention-thirsty psychopathic power-hungry delusional waste of skin and bones that you’ll do, say or allow anything if it means you’ll just get one more minute in the limelight.”

The renewed listenership for Miller's "Donald Trump" serves as a frustrating reminder of the innocence that surrounded the song. When it was first released, no one could fathom where we are today.
