It’s been nearly three years since we’ve heard any new music from Macklemore and Ryan Lewis. In that time, a lot has changed for the Grammy-winning duo. Macklemore is a new dad and is determined to stay sober after a relapse with drugs. On their new single, 'Growing Up (Sloane's Song),’ the Seattle rhymer offers fatherly advice to his newborn daughter.

Produced by Ryan Lewis, the song boasts a tickling piano groove, guitar strumming and Ed Sheeran singing the chorus. Macklemore gets reflective on the tune and drops some knowledge to his 2-month-old baby Sloane.

"Do yoga, learn 'bout karma / Find God, but leave the dogma / The quickest way to happiness? Learning to be selfless / Ask more questions, talk about yourself less / Study David Bowie, James Baldwin and 2Pac / Watch the sun set with best friends from a rooftop," he raps.

Macklemore told MTV that the song gives him a sense of pride now that he's a dad. He didn't know what kind of father he would be and had some fears before his daughter was born. But "Growing Up" is an ode to his baby girl and he's extremely proud of it.

“Sloane is a piece of my mom” he said. “And the things that she taught me, I’m gonna pass on to Sloane. And to be able to put that into music in a way that I felt like I captured it is -- it’s one of my favorite songs I’ve ever written.”
