As had been rumored for a while, Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj have both publicly confirmed that they are leaving 'American Idol' after this season, following the announcement that Randy Jackson was also retiring. This leaves Keith Urban as the last judge standing, though perhaps not for long.

After facing a steep decline in ratings during Season 12, 'American Idol' is looking to reinvent itself in Season 13. Not only has longtime Fox reality chief Mike Darnell left the network, but three of the four current judges have officially exited the program as well. Today it was Carey and Minaj, who -- as Variety points out -- announced their departure via Twitter. Here is Carey's announcement through her publicity firm:

While Minaj did it herself with this tweet:

Word has long been that the two women had as tempestuous a relationship off-screen as on, so it's surprising one didn't stick around simply to gloat. But as there seems to be an 'Idol' house cleaning going on, perhaps both were asked to leave. It's unknown where the show will go from here, though Jennifer Hudson has signed up to be a new judge, with the rumored new concept that the judges will be a panel of former winners/contestants. We'll let you know when or if Keith Urban also departs.
