Matthew Flugence Booked With Murder In The Death Of A 6-Year-Old Harvey Girl

The man that police suspect is responsible for the the death of Ahlittia North, 6-years-old, of Harvey, La. is now behind bars and charged with first-degree murder.

Matthew Flugence, 20, was booked into the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center this morning and booked with first-degree murder in the death of a 6-year-old in Harvey. Ahlitta's body was discovered in a trash can at her apartment complex Tuesday morning, and it was reported that her body had multiple stab wounds to it.

Flugence is related to Ahlitta through her stepfather. Matthew Flugence is the nephew of her stepfather, and it was not uncommon for Flugence to babysit the 6-year-old on various occasions.

When police picked Flugence up Tuesday night, he was armed with a knife. Police still do not know when her body was disposed of in the trash cans because they searched the premises of the complex on several occasions throughout the weekend.

WWL-TV reports that Flugence's older brother, Russell Flugence, was arrested and booked with obstruction of justice on Tuesday.
