Meek Mill Claims Ghostwriter Told Him Drake’s “Summer Sixteen” Lyrics Before Song Debuted

The Meek Mill and Drake beef on wax is back on and popping thanks to the two rappers both putting out diss tracks within minutes of each other last night (Jan. 30).

Meek's timing seemed very strategic as he dropped the second installment of his 4/4 EP (which contains the Drizzy diss "War Pain") right after Aubrey delivered his new song "Summer Sixteen" on OVO Sound Radio. What seemed even less coincidental is the Philly rapper referencing one of Drake's lines in one of his new songs. According to Meek it was no coincidence at all, because he had previously heard the verse from "the ghostwriter."

One the line in question, Drizzy raps, “I used to want to be on Roc-A-Fella, then I turned into Jay.” To which Meek countered a short time later on his EP, "See an OVO chain, probably take that shit,” he raps. “You ain’t writin’, n****, we caught ya / Can’t erase that shit and you claiming you Hov now? / Why you state that shit?”

With the Internet buzzing over similarities of the two lines, Meek took to Instagram to confirm that he heard the Toronto native's verse before it was released. "The ghostwriter told me," he captioned a picture of him cheesing from ear-to-ear.

Now, this could be the happenstance of all happenstances where the universe aligned perfectly to have Meek seem to directly reference something Drake had in his verse, and Mill is just reveling in the coincidence of it all.

But the more than likely scenario is he did in fact hear the verse prior to it dropping, and that is the entire reason he waited to put out his EP until right after the OVO Sound rapper dropped his. Was it Quentin Miller the Atlanta MC named as Drizzy's pen man, previously? The plot thickens.
