Lafayette Makes List Of Places You’ve Probably Been Mispronouncing Your Whole Life

I often cringe when I hear people say Lah-FEY-yet, but did you know that Lafayette is one of the most mispronounced places in the world?

A list from Thrillophilia highlighted 32 places that people have mispronounced their entire life and Lafayette—with several cities that share the name throughout the United States of America—was one of the places featured.

You can usually tell if someone is local or not based solely on the way they say "Lafayette"—and if you don't hear the word "laugh" in there—chances are, their mama probably can't make a good roux.

Of course, as locals we know how to properly say "Laff-EE-yet" but I have to admit that looking at the rest of the list made me realize that I am guilty of mispronouncing a lot of the other places that are highlighted.
