A mom, not in the United States, went shopping after leaving her baby alone in a car with a note telling other carpark users to call her if there were any issues.

The baby was left alone in a car in the carpark of Pak'nSave Porirua and those walking by the car could not believe what they were seeing. Rather than call authorities, several on-lookers elected to call the mom, because her phone number was on the note left with the baby, and advised her to return to the car immediately.

The note that was left on the babies blanket read, "My mum's in doing the shopping, call her if I need anything." One eyewitness to this crazy story said, "As parents ourselves we know it is hard to get a baby to sleep, and once you start moving them they can wake up ... we thought it was just a silly decision by a tired mother."

According to the nzherald, a police spokesperson said it was illegal for a parent or guardian to leave a child under the age of 14 alone for an unreasonable time or in unreasonable conditions. Doing so could result in a fine of up to $2000.

As we rapidly approach the summer months in south Louisiana we would like to take the time to remind you that it is never safe to leave your children or your pets in a car for any given time. Sure, we are all in a hurry, but there is no excuse to leave a child in a car for any given time. Luckily for the woman in this story the ending was tragic.
