Last year was a big year for Lafayette Regional Airport and new numbers show the Dallas/Fort Worth area was the most popular final destination for travelers. According to the airport, 411,818 total people boarded planes in Lafayette in 2017. The new numbers reflect the final destinations of passengers. Other cities in the top five include Las Vegas, Denver, Atlanta and New York City.

2018 is going to be another big year for the airport as work continues on a new terminal that will replace the current one. The design was ultimately decided on after a massive public survey. The multi-year construction project is being paid for in part by revenue from a temporary 1-cent sales tax that was approved by voters.
