Most Popular Dog Breeds In Louisiana

Each year the American Kennel Club releases it's list of the top ten dog breeds in the country, but I want to know what the top ten dog breeds are in Louisiana. Let's be real, the rest of the country is great and all, but Louisiana is home.

So, what are the top dog breeds in in the state?

You'd think that because the Catahoula is the Louisiana state dog that it would be in that #1 spot, right? But according to NOLA.com's list of the top dog breeds in the Bayou State, the Catahoula doesn't even make the cut.

1. Labrador Retriever
2. Beagle
3. German Shepherd
4. Boxer
5. Yorkshire Terrier
6. Bulldog
7. Golden Retriever
8. Poodle
9. Rottweiler
10. French Bulldog

Yes, I still think it's crazy that the Louisiana state dog didn't make the list, but I'm not surprised that the Labrador Retriever is most popular dog breed in the Boot.

I see Labs everywhere! Heck, I have two of them -- well, technically they are Lab mixes, but they definitely have Labrador Retriever in them -- Either way, it makes sense that Labs would be the most popular breed in the state. I mean, they are the most popular breed in the country for the 26th year in a row.
