A mother is being criticized by some and praised by others after beating her daughter in a Facebook Live video that was posted over the weekend.

Shanavia Miller logged into her daughter Nia's Facebook page and posted a video that showed her berating the 16-year-old as she struck her with everything from a piece of wood to her bare hands.

Nia tries to get away, but her mom follows her—directing the cameraman to follow her where she continues to beat her daughter.

The beating was allegedly provoked by photos that Nia posted to social media where she stood next to an unidentified boy by while posing provocatively in a towel. Shanavia was shocked that her daughter would have the audacity to post the photo (that she believed was taken in her Savannah, GA home) for all to see.

Shanavia was not charged after the Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department spoke to both mother and daughter.

Although the daughter said she felt safe in the home, the case has been referred to the Department of Family and Children Services.

It seems as both Shanavia and Nia took to Nia's Facebook page after the incident went viral to comment on the feedback.

This is definitely not the first time the internet debated on this type of punishment in the home. Earlier this year, a Baton Rouge mother was arrested for whipping her sons after she caught them breaking into a house.

Some are supporting Shanavia, while others are criticising her actions. Your thoughts?
