Philip Hebert of Moss Bluff was arrested after operating a motorcycle in a reckless manner and taunting police, who eventually caught up to him when he ran out of gas.

The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office alerted State Police shortly after midnight on February 21 and advised them that they were attempting to stop a motorcycle on I-10 in Lake Charles for traffic infractions.

Police said that the motorcycle's operator was taunting police and refused to stop. Once a state trooper encountered the motorcycle near the Calcasieu River Bridge doing 96 mph in a 60 mph zone the rider still refused to stop, taunting the trooper with hand gestures and accelerating to speeds well over 100 mph.

Multiple units gave chase, and eventually apprehended the motorcycle's operator—27-year-old Phillip Hebert of Moss Bluff—when he was located outside a residence along LA 3256 near Iowa, LA.

His motorcycle had run out of gas.

To make matters worse, Hebert is suspected to have run from troopers a week before this incident after committing numerous traffic violations. That previous pursuit remains under investigation.
