The Smithsonian Institute created a Kickstarter Campaign to preserve one of the most famous pieces of American history - the spacesuit worn by Astronaut Neil Armstrong on Apollo 11, which was the spaceflight that landed the first humans on the Moon.

'Reboot the Suit' was, according to the Smithsonian, 'A chance for citizens of Earth to conserve, digitize, and display Neil Armstrong's Apollo 11 spacesuit for explorers everywhere.' So far, over $719,000 has been raised, which means they have met their goal. I'm sure that some more important pieces of our past might be up next for preservation because this campaign was so successful. What an incredible way for the American public to be an actual part of history!
