It looks like the IRS is actively attempting to collect their bread from Nelly by taking his tour funds.

As previously reported, the Country Grammar rapper was hit with a $2,412,283 federal tax lien in August. The St. Lunatic also has issues on the state level as the Missouri Department of Revenue said he is still on the hook for $149,511 in unpaid state taxes from 2013.

According to TheJasmineBrand, the IRS has issued garnishment execution to Ticketmaster, to whom the rapper has four upcoming shows with, meaning part or all of the profits from the shows could be scooped up by the IRS.

Fans are doing their part to help save the diamond-selling rapper from debt as they have been streaming his music at an abnormal rate in order to help raise money.

The payout for a Spotify artist “per stream” lands between $0.006 and $0.0084. According to Spin, who did the math, you’ll have to stream a Nelly song 402,880,500 times to make a dent in his $2.4 million tax lien. If Nelly is earning close to $.0084 for each stream, the absolute, best-case scenario would have you listening to “Hot in Herre” 287,176,547 times.

Even Stephen Colbert and James Corden have tried to do their part in helping out with jokes. Colbert, bearing Nelly’s signature band-aid on his cheek bone, parodied the St. Louis rapper’s hit song “Hot in Herre.” His rendition of the track is titled “Debt in Herre,” and depending on his sense of humor, Nelly is either laughing or crying at the joke.
