While all you living room musicians out there are jonesing for more Rock Band info, Guitar Hero could be restringing for a new gig on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Polygon reports that purported invitations to a Harmonix and Activision announcement event have been sent out to various media outlets based in Germany. While the invitation doesn't mention Guitar Hero by name, the event is scheduled to be on April 1 in "Hamburg Rock City," with Activision asking the press to "rock the shack with us!" Germany just seems like strange location for Activision to reveal its next plastic peripheral-based music game, which was immensely popular in North America. Then again, if Activision and Harmonix were to announce a new Guitar Hero game alongside Rammstein, that would be quite metal.

Earlier this month, we reported that Harmonix has formally announced its next major Rock Band title, and will likely have a live showing at E3 2015, but this seems a bit too close for the company to be doing Guitar Hero alongside it. You know what was one of our major gripes with Harmonix's music games? They oversaturated the market with them in a very short time span and third-party knockoffs did the same thing. Asking customers to buy a new game alongside new peripherals every other year for both Rock Band and Guitar Hero was one of the reasons why sales started to trickle for both franchises a few years ago — let each game breath before forcing another title and more peripherals down our throats, Activision.

Stay tuned as we'll provide up-to-date coverage on both Harmonix's next Rock Band title and this potential Guitar Hero game once more information is available.
