Hundreds of  eager UL Ragin Cajun fans packed the Leon Moncla Indoor Practice Facility Monday night to hear the announcement they have been waiting for. That announcement, that the UL Ragin Cajuns would be participating in The New Orleans Bowl on December 17th inside the Mercedes Benz Superdome. The Cajuns have often been overlooked for bowl consideration in recent years, but that would all change with one single announcement.

As the UL Faithful entered into the indoor practice facility to hear the monumental announcement, all were greeted by the UL Cheerleaders, the Ragin Cajun Jazz team, and by the sounds of The Pride of Louisiana, The UL Marching Band. Like every pep rally, you could sense the excitement from everyone in attendance. It was basically something this university had never seen before...until tonight.

Those in attendance for the pep rally/announcement were also rewarded with a highlight reel of the season, and with a never before seen "behind the scenes" video package showing the UL faithful all of the commitments that have been made by the players up to this point.

As the pep rally neared the end, the entire team was introduced and then came the BIG ANNOUNCEMENT. Two New Orelans Bowl officials were in attendance for the rally and delivered the news many of you have been waiting for...The Ragin Cajuns are going to a bowl game!!!

UL Athletic Director Scott Farmer introduced the bowl officials, and it was then that the announcement was made. First year head coach Mark Hudspeth was presented a red and white rope from the bowl official and told to not let go of the rope because at the end of the rope was an invitation to the 2011 New Orleans Bowl. After the crowd relished the moment for several minutes, Coach Hudspeth reminded all in attendance that this was a TOTAL team effort. He further reminded all of "Cajun Nation" that this was a moment in their life they will never forget, and that they all deserved this night.
