Another day, another phone scam. Scammers are calling people demanding that they pay a fine for missing jury duty.

The Better Business Bureau reports that someone in Acadiana was contacted by a scammer demanding they pay a $1500 fine for missing jury duty. The person contacted reports that they were threatened with an arrest if they did not comply.

Scammers tell you to get a pre-paid credit card with $1500 on it and then call back for payment arrangements.

The caller hopes you panic and fulfills their demand(s). Remember, you'll always receive a notification via the mail when you are called to jury duty and when you miss it. Courts never call you, nor do police call and threaten you with an arrest.

Be smart and NEVER give out personal information over the phone.
