Nicki Minaj Hosting Christmas Concert With Hot 97 Following Summer Jam Feud
Well, looky here. After her summer feud with Hot 97, it appears that Nicki Minaj and the New York radio station have settled their beef for the holiday season. Gothamist is reporting that Nicki Minaj is hosting a "Christmas Extravaganza" event that's being presented by Hot 97 and held on Christmas Day at Webster Hall in New York City.
Yes, we're in shock by all of this because we assumed that the feud was still going on. If you remember, not too long ago, Minaj demanded that Hot 97 remove her from the station's playlists.
Just to recap: this past June, at Hot 97's annual Summer Jam concert, the station's DJ, Peter Rosenberg, opined that Minaj's song 'Starships' "wasn't real hip-hop." His critique caused the 'Freedom' rapper to abruptly cancel her performance at the event and wage a war against the radio station.
So why the change of heart? Well, Gothamist got to the bottom of it and asked Rosenberg about this Christmas show and if he's still feuding with Minaj.
"I had nothing to do with this concert personally and I doubt that she would want it to have much to do with me personally, but it is definitely a dead issue on my end," he told the website. "Not even to be polite or political -- I sincerely like Nicki's rapping a lot. She has only had a few songs that I disliked and one of them ['Starships'] happened to be the one that caused all of this."
"But the station still supports her and always will… I really hope we get to talk one day and have a laugh about the whole thing," he continues. "It is not that serious in the grand scheme of things. We both just love hip-hop in our own ways."
Awwww, can you feel the yuletide love in Rosenberg's statement?
Well, let's hope that Minaj and Rosenberg can settle their differences. It's Christmas for pete's sake! No need to have all this hate during the holiday season.
Merry Christmas, Barbz!
