Opelousas Man Dies While Attacking Woman

An Opelousas man is dead after he collapsed while attacking a woman in her home.

According to our news partners at KATC, the man broke into the victim's home on Story Street and began hitting her with a cane knife. But then, the suspect collapsed and died.

An autopsy is being done on the suspect, whose name is being withheld until next of kin are notified. The woman is in the hospital in stable condition.

Police continue to investigate.
