Lets just start by saying that Neil Patrick Harris will probably NOT be hosting the Oscars again anytime soon. The show had it's worst ratings in seven years, and it has left many in Hollywood scratching their head.

On Monday Deadline reported that the Oscars only scored a 10.8 rating among persons between the ages of 18-49. They also report that only 36.6 million people watched the show.

Deadline says that the Oscars took a 17% dip in ratings among it's key demographic. Its also being reported that the show took an 18% dip overall from last years show which Ellen DeGeneres hosted.

But why such a decline in ratings? Could it be that masses have lost all interest in Hollywood, or was it the host himself that did not connect with viewers? Many say that Harris' jokes did not connect and that at times he appeared to be trying too hard. After all, he did take his clothes off on-stage.

In any case, I'm sure the "suits" at ABC are not happy with these numbers and they will try to figure out how to re-gain their audience next year. Hey, maybe they should start by awarding shows that people actually care about. Just a thought.
